REPORTS TO: PROGRAM DIRECTOR, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT PROGRAM
Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time, 12-month position of Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor, Physician Assistant Program.
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor is responsible for the overall leadership, day-to-day planning, operations, and management of the clinical components of the physician assistant program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coordinates and directs the clinical phase of the program under the leadership of the Program Director.
· Maintains collaborative external relationships to facilitate valuable clinical experiences and community relationships.
· Secures high-quality clinical sites for rotations and extracurricular learning experiences.
· Is responsible for all aspects of ARC-PA accreditation processes and standards related to the clinical phase of the PA program, including SCPE portal.
· Leads the daily program administration of the clinical phase of the program including: student placement, student records management, student CV development, supervised clinical practice experiences, Clinical Seminar I-III courses, and documentation required.
· Assists with verification and documentation of all clinical site requirements such as Affiliation Agreements, Preceptor Profiles/Practice Profiles, Licensure and Board Certification verification, Criminal Background Checks, immunization records and other site required documentation.
· Reviews and approves preceptors and clinical sites annually.
· Assists with the development, implementation and assessment of academic performance evaluations within the clinical phase, including End of Rotation assignments, PACKRAT, OSCE examinations, and End of Rotation Exams.
· Helps coordinate, prepare, and administer final summative assessments including the written examination, OSCE examination, portfolio, and professional performance evaluation.
· Participates with coordination of and conduction of site visits to PA students during clinical rotations.
· Ensures compliance with educational objectives during the clinical phase of the program.
· Troubleshoots concerns related to clinical year students and/or clinical sites and preceptors.
· Assists in coordinating Special Topics lectures that occur during Call Back Days.
· Provides classroom instruction, preparing and presenting relevant, current course content.
· Manages budget effectively.
· Monitors program academic integrity.
· Provides ongoing program evaluation in conjunction with other faculty members.
· Participates in student recruitment, admission, and selection process.
· Provides input to the PA steering committee.
· Performs student advisement and academic counseling.
· Provides input to faculty in designing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating the curriculum.
· Participates in various community and civic activities, scholarly activities, and college committees.
· Other duties as assigned by the Program Director and the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPETENCIES:
· Nationally certified, state licensed physician assistant, MD, or DO.
· Minimum of a master’s degree.
· 2 years of clinical experience or teaching in an academic setting.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills.
· Proficient written and verbal language skills.
· Competent in working with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
· Actively practices medicine
