Database & Prospect Research Manager – Lake Erie College

Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time position of Database & Prospect Research Manager. As a core member of the advancement team, the Database and Prospect Research Manager will utilize a data-driven approach to help the team build and execute strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and growth of donors. The position will oversee gift administration, reporting and analytics, prospect research, and other essential functions that will ensure the team’s efficiency and the success of fundraising initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains and leverages our donor database to ensure clean, thorough donor information and gift processing.
  • Manages daily gift processing, including cash, checks, credit card charges, donations of stocks and securities, electronic transfers, pledges, matching contributions, memorials and tributes, gifts, and in-kind donations.
  • Produces detailed donor portfolios and is responsible for oversight of donor research platforms.
  • Responsible for day-to-day database management, building and optimizing workflows for Advancement colleagues, tracking pipeline progress, and producing reports.
  • Global oversight of the entire database system and fundraising portfolios in concert with individual fundraisers; works directly with fundraising colleagues to maintain the database.
  • Manages and segments prospect and donor data for appeals, e-mail campaigns, events, and special projects; produces database reports and queries to track campaigns and appeals status and success.
  • Maintains integrity of Raiser’s Edge database through regular audits, data clean-ups, address updates, and duplicate record identification.
  • Performs ongoing evaluation of donor data. Tracks annual giving donor trends, focusing on donor retention, pipeline movement, and building the donor base.
  • Implements standard database policies and procedures and conducts training for staff.
  • Stays abreast of Raiser’s Edge best practices and makes recommendations regarding updates/upgrades as needed (i.e. adding PayPal and Venmo payment options).
  • Acts as liaison with the Business Office to audit and reconcile financial records and keep track of pledges and payment schedules.
  • Assists with and advises on best practices for data entry, specifically for the tracking of actions and information for Advancement colleagues, board members, and president.

Page Two – Database & Prospect Research Manager

  • Works collaboratively with IT to help establish data governance standards, dashboards, and analytics across several enterprise database systems in use at the College.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VPA.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of database management and/or prospect research.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Raiser’s Edge or comparable fundraising CRM.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to translate complex data and information into actionable insights required.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and has background managing projects.
  • A passion for data and building systems that optimize team efficiency and effectiveness to maximize philanthropic giving.
  • Familiarity with skills and tactics of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors, foundations, and corporations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and to use discretionary judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment independently.
  • Attending to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Growth and “doer” mindset and institutional teamwork ethic.
  • Creative, strategic, thoughtful, and has a sense of humor.
