Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) is seeking a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. This critical role provides strategic leadership in institutional research, assessment, and effectiveness efforts, guiding data governance, business intelligence, and assessment practices to support student success, systemic equity, and institutional effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs + Provost, the Director will play a vital role in fostering data-driven decision-making that advances CIA’s mission and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.

The Director oversees the college’s external and internal reporting and conducts comprehensive data analyses to support institutional planning, assessment, and decision-making. This includes examining student success metrics, enrollment trends, accreditation evidence, career and alumni outcomes, and other key data points. The role is responsible for managing assessment practices, facilitating program reviews, and planning research methodologies and surveys to drive continuous improvement. Additionally, the Director will coordinate national surveys and federal reporting efforts, co-chair the institution-wide data governance committee, and collaborate with key departments to align strategies with institutional goals. A crucial aspect of this role includes educating stakeholders on data governance and survey design to strengthen a culture of data-informed decision-making across the institution.

Candidates should bring a Master’s degree in statistics, social sciences, higher education administration, data science, or a closely related field, along with experience in institutional research—preferably in higher education. Expertise in research methodology, survey design, and data analysis is essential, as is proficiency in statistical software, advanced Excel, and data visualization tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accreditation processes, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to advance institutional objectives.

Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. CIA offers a benefit package including; paid time off accrual, 13 paid holidays, as well as additional time off while the college is closed during winter break. CIA offers health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and inter-museum council discounts.
