Event Host – Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Grow your career in facilities and events operations as an Event Host at the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park! If you are passionate, personable, and enthusiastic, we’d love you to join our Park Experiences team. You will assist our Sales and Guest Services Managers and other departments in welcoming groups to unique event spaces within the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. You will further help set-up, tear-down, and maintain our facilities during events.

 

Position Description, Essential Duties (other duties as assigned):

  • Work interdepartmentally to assist with and/or act as point person for Conservancy special events, programs, such as weddings, meetings, events, and more.
  • Provide excellent customer service to our Extraordinary Spaces guest groups.
  • Serve as Event Host for Conservancy Extraordinary Spaces events, this includes but is not limited to, opening and closing venue space, answering venue questions, and being familiar with floor plans, checklists, and timeline for special events and programs.
  • Under the direction of the Sales and Guest Services Managers, Sales Director, and other department leads, get to know each unique event space and buildings operations., Position location will vary to include shifts at Happy Days Lodge, Hines Hill Campus, and other locations as assigned.
  • Communicate with event caterers about our facilities and operations rules and requirements
  • Maintain integrity of historic facilities by adhering to NPS and Conservancy guidelines. Ensure that historic facilities are safe by responding to or notifying appropriate staff members of facility issues in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Employee must satisfactorily perform the essential duties/functions as outlined in the position’s job description
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Status/ Pay/Benefits: Part-time, non-exempt, $13.00 hourly rate. There are no benefits associated with this position.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Applicants must be 18 years or older.
  • The employee is required to have open availability on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Occasional daytime and evening weekday shift.
  • The candidate must have proven customer service experience and success in interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to write clearly and coherently in correspondence and effectively communicate over the phone.
  • The candidate will be able to use a reservations program, Microsoft Word, and Excel effectively.
  • This position requires the employee to travel frequently between sites in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and to locations outside the park, as assigned.
  • The position requires the employee to be on feet for long periods of time, walk and carry items up and down stairs and have the ability to stretch and lift 50 pounds.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Employees must have a valid Driver’s License, evidence of insurability, and meet our driving record policy due to use of a Conservancy and/or government vehicles, and/or reimbursement of mileage.
  • All employees of the Conservancy are required to pass a background check prior to the start of employment. Background checks may be subject to repeat every five (5) years.
