Golf Turf Technician Mechanic (ShawneeGolf Course) – Cleveland Metroparks

The Golf Course Mechanic maintains and repairs the golf course equipment located on the property they are assigned. Responsibilities would also include assisting with the maintenance of the grounds on the golf course.

 

Essential Functions:

 

1. Operates, maintains, and repairs the following equipment: Green, tee, and fairway mowers, tank sprayers, greens roller, tractors, utility vehicles, spreaders, and other related turf equipment.

2. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the golf cart fleet.

3. Performs semi-skilled work, and as capable and assigned, skilled work in golf grounds maintenance including; Cutting cups, raking bunkers, and mowing greens, tees, and fairways exercising a degree of independent judgement.

4. Performs semi-skilled work, and as capable and assigned, skilled work in golf course irrigation, drainage, and turf maintenance practices.

5. Demonstrates technical knowledge in preventative maintenance of equipment.

6. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding areas for oneself, co-workers, and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable, and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.

7. Informs Supervisor of key issues promptly.

8. Provides work direction, changes work assignments, and corrects work activity of other employees, as assigned.

9. Performs related duties as apparent or assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

· High School diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of experiences maintaining and repairing golf course equipment and/or similar type equipment/vehicles.

· Must be familiar with small engine repair, hydraulic systems, and diesel engines.

· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license under the laws of the State of Ohio

· Preferred experience with the operation and maintenance of reel mowers.

· Demonstrated ability to exhibit leadership consistent with teamwork approach that recognizes the contribution of all employees.

· Keeps current with new production methods, techniques, and materials by work assignment locations.

· Possess the necessary written and oral communication skills to communicate professionally.

· Preferred experience in Welding and Fabrication.

 

Wage: $29.19 with a $0.50 increase each six (6) months until achieving the union wage rate of $30.69 per hour

 

Work Days: Sunday – Thursday
