Head Coach, STUNT – Lake Erie College

Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time position of Head Coach, STUNT.  Lake Erie College is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizes, in conjunction with the director of athletics, all aspects of the program, including facility, game, practice and operational duties.
  • Serves as recruiter for the sport of STUNT, identifying and evaluating potential students with that interest and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions.
  • Acts as a visible person to represent the College in a positive manner and to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
  • Assists in all phases of coaching for STUNT.
  • Scouts and evaluates potential recruits.
  • Acts as an ambassador of the College and conducts oneself in a positive manner and to heighten the awareness of the institution to all its constituents.
  • Follows all institutional, NCAA, and GMAC regulations regarding STUNT and athletics in general.
  • Works closely with promotional and team fundraising efforts.
  • Makes budgetary suggestions regarding the proper operations and staffing of the areas of responsibility.
  • Helps promote visibility and awareness of the STUNT program.
  • Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards where student-athletes are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.
  • Assists with athletes’ study hall coverage and coordination.
  • Assists with all event setups and operations.
  • Creates an environment and plans for the academic success of the team.
  • Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DII student-athlete experience.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends and to travel for team practices, competition, and scouting.
  • Assists with transportation of the team in vans or buses, upon approval.
  • Other duties as assigned by the director of athletics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to recruit prospective student-athletes.
  • Prior NCAA DII STUNT playing or coaching experience preferred.
  • Must have strong team building and management skills.
  • Growth and “doer” mindset and institutional teamwork ethic.
  • Creative, strategic, thoughtful, and has a sense of humor.
  • Must have ability to work across academic and administrative departments in a cooperative manner.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise respective staff, as well as understand the student-athletes’ commitment to academics, is a must.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the community.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified applicants will have the availability to work evenings and weekends, possess a valid driver’s license for transportation of team in vans or bus and have the ability to travel for team practices, competition and scouting.

Under the NCAA Bylaw 11.1.6 Sports-Safety Training, each head coach and all other coaches who are employed full time at an institution shall maintain current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.

All members of the department of athletics are responsible for knowing and following all institutional, Conference and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the program. If regulations are not followed and result in a violation, employees are expected to self-report the violation to the compliance office or to the director of athletics. Additionally, employees must understand that those who knowingly violate, conceal, or attempt to cover up violations of NCAA rules shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
