JOB SUMMARY
Plans and allocates resources to align with plant operational, maintenance, financial, and strategic objectives. Determines the most effective operations, maintenance, and condition monitoring and renewal strategies. Organizes and procures resources to ensure efficient coordination of maintenance activities. Develops maintenance plans and schedules. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
– Plans and coordinates preventive and predictive maintenance for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural, and instrumentation equipment by task and priority levels. Coordinates and plans work with maintenance management, operations management and other Sewer District departments to ensure maintenance work is scheduled and performed using sound asset management principles. Makes recommendations for improving the maintenance programs, including the consideration of financial implications.
– Develops short- and long-term maintenance plans and schedules maintenance activities for the Sewer District’s wastewater treatment plants components including various mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and structural equipment. Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and project planning software to develop job plans and procedures and sets preventive maintenance schedules. Assists in the development of departmental budgeting, including capital projects.
– Organizes resources, including materials and people, to meet maintenance objectives and ensure efficient coordination. Coordinates contracted maintenance, repair, and capital work. Arranges for equipment and supplies to be available for assignments. Initiates requisitions for equipment, materials, rental equipment, and contracted services. Tracks maintenance work, projects, and contracted maintenance services to expedite work completion. Manages spare parts and alignment between the maintenance department and stockroom
– Estimates time and material costs for equipment repairs. Assists in determining courses of action such as repairing mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation equipment, and performing preventive and breakdown maintenance.
– Works with applicable Sewer District departments to maintain detailed records and files for tracking documents, including work orders, project files, progress charts, Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA), asset management plans and the historical maintenance database. Generates maintenance reports using various software for asset maintenance.
– Maintains engineering drawings, service manuals, work orders, records and prepares reports.
– Observes safe work practices and enforces prescribed safety rules and regulations.
– Trains employees as required to use the CMMS
– Coordinates equipment shutdowns.
– Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
– Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Industrial Management, Engineering Technology, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
– Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as outlined in the Sewer District’s Education Equivalencies Policy.
EXPERIENCE
– Candidate must possess five (5) years of experience in managing assets in the areas of development, implementation, and continuous improvement of maintenance processes.
– Three (3) years of planning and scheduling maintenance projects is preferred.
– Three (3) years of maintenance experience in a wastewater environment is preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
– Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record in accordance with the Sewer District’s acceptable guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
– Candidate must possess knowledge and understanding of basic materials and tools used in the repair, maintenance and adjustment of mechanical, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and CMMS.
– Candidate must possess the ability to effectively plan, coordinate, establish and maintain effective working relationships and prioritize workloads based on available resources.
– Candidate must possess ability to multi-task, analyze technical data, prepare reports, and communicate information to non-technical audiences.
– Candidate must possess the ability to successfully lead, influence, persuade and negotiate with constituents to accomplish program goals.
– Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
– Experience in the utilization of a CMMS application and Microsoft Project is preferred.
– Candidate must possess the ability to be reliable and punctual in reporting to work as scheduled. Ability to work in a self-directed manner and provide direction to others. Ability to recognize and implement opportunities for process improvements.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
During the course of performing the essential functions of this position, the employee must be able to analyze, communicate, comprehend, coordinate, make decisions, possess general intelligence, interact, interpret, negotiate, possess numerical intelligence, organize, problem solve, have resilience and perform tasks. Physical work will need to be performed, such as balancing, bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, driving, feeling, kneeling/squatting, reaching, sitting, standing, talking, typing and walking. Repetitive movements will need to be performed such as simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation with both hands. Ability to push, pull and lift from floor to waist, waist to shoulder or floor to shoulder up to 40 lbs. on an occasional basis may be necessary. Position will require visual demands of accommodation, color vision, depth perception, far acuity and near acuity. Ability to withstand very loud noise exposure for fifteen minutes or longer on an infrequent basis is required. Exposure to environmental conditions such as outdoor work, vibrations, work around large machinery, work at heights and work inside confined spaces is encountered in this position.
Pay Range: USD, Commensurate with Experience
$69,239 – $86,548
