Philanthropy Operations Manager – The Cleveland Foundation

Position: Full-Time; Exempt

Reports to: SVP, Philanthropic Strategy and General Counsel

For more than 109 years, the Cleveland Foundation has worked with donors, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to enhance the quality of life for all Greater Cleveland residents. With a focus on Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties, the foundation builds community endowment, addresses needs through grantmaking and social impact investing and provides leadership on vital issues. The Cleveland Foundation is the worldʼs
first community foundation and one of the largest today with approximately $3 billion in assets.


The Philanthropy Operations Manager will play a role in driving digital change across the Foundation and will oversee data management for the Philanthropy Department to support donor prospecting, engagement, and stewardship. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database products and services, such as Salesforce, along with proven skills in strategy development and digital
analytics to amplify business growth.

This position will work closely with the Marketing Departmentʼs Digital and CRM Marketing Manager and the IT Departmentʼs Salesforce Developer to facilitate the Foundationʼs sales and marketing funnel journey from qualifying leads through to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. In addition, this role will supervise the Research Associate on a range of information management and research matters.

Essential Functions and Expected Outcomes:

• Serves as a partner on a cross-departmental team of CRM professionals to continuously improve and help lead the Foundation’s digital transformation.
• Oversees the Philanthropy team’s prospect/pipeline management to assist with prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Selects, implements and manages Salesforce automation tools to streamline and optimize the Foundation’s sales process.
• Provide quantitative analysis, reports, and insights to the Philanthropy team to drive active donor engagement.
• Manages and audits Salesforce data, tracks and reports on fund development and donor trends, and performs sales forecasting.
• Skillfully uses analytics and optimization tools to measure performance, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions to drive growth.
• Collaborates with Foundation-wide teams on projects, initiatives, and the development of organizational goals.
• Supervises the Research Associate.
• Assumes other special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Philanthropic Strategy and General Counsel.


Essential Qualifications, Credentials, and Technical Skills Required:

• A bachelorʼs degree in a relevant field.
• A mastersʼ degree in nonprofit administration or public administration preferred.
• At least 5 years of related experience, with at least 3 years of experience working with CRM systems in support of sales, marketing, and/or business          development functions. Background using Salesforce and/or Ren a plus.
• Demonstrated experience developing processes and business strategies with leaders to maximize the value of technologies and systems.
• Excellent critical thinking, research, and analytical skills.
• Strong technical acumen and knowledge of data analysis and reporting.
• Proactive, solution-based focus to addressing problems or issues.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• The ability to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously while still meeting deadlines with limited or no supervision.

The foundation’s compensation program will determine the estimated annual salary for this position, which will be fair, consistent with the salaries of comparable positions within the organization, and reflective of a candidate’s educational, professional, and community background and qualifications.
