Examples of Duties
- Under supervision, investigates complaints involving possible nuisance code or other local code violations. Issues violation notices, re-inspects for compliance, and performs the necessary follow-up actions deemed necessary. Issues minor misdemeanor tickets and court summons. Refers properties to appropriate departments. Conducts sweeps and surveys of neighborhoods for compliance with nuisance and other local codes. Under the supervision of a licensed pesticide operator, properly applies rodenticides and other pesticides as regulations and situations permit. Performs routine inspections of facilities and businesses and handles issues regulated under local codes. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
- An Associate’s Degree with the equivalent of 15 semester credits hours in Science, Math, or Chemistry from an accredited college or university required. (Substitution: One year of full-time paid experience working in the Environmental Health field with a thorough knowledge of health code ordinances may substitute for the Associate’s Degree.) Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required. Must own or have access to a properly registered and insured vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed). Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.
