Examples of Duties

Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program’s operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of full-time, paid, progressively responsible experience in program administration is required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. A valid State of Ohio Driver’s License is required.

Supplemental Information

 

The Senior Finance Coordinator  will play a critical role in ensuring the fiscal and regulatory integrity of the City of Cleveland Department of Economic Development’s fund accounts and budgets. The role involves being responsible for managing, directing and coordinating financial, accounting, and related administrative functions for the department. The position will also work as an intermediary between the Director, Assistant Director, Fiscal Manager and the Chief of Integrated Development in helping to draft budgets and monitor spending for different sources of funds. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Duties and Tasks:

Assists in the preparation of the fiscal budget and monitors all expenditures of the department. Manages the accounting functions to ensure proper control and recording of financial transactions. Assists in developing departmental policies and procedures which affect budget, accounting, and other financial transactions. Manages continuous improvement of internal accounting and administrative controls for the safeguarding of the City’s and Department’s assets. Serves as liaison among divisions, departments, and outside groups having an interest in financial matters. Manages the development of financial analysis and advises on forecasting of revenue and expenditures. Assists in adherence to all applicable fiscal policies and procedures. Provides technical guidance and direction, and coordinates training for departmental staff on an as needed basis. Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Performs other related duties as required.

Additional Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field is required. Seven years of full time paid progressively responsible accounting experience, two years of which supervisory experience is required. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite  (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) and dedicated to maintaining high ethical standards.

Experience relating to governmental accounting, Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment, Effective communicator and listener, Ability to take charge and lead when needed, Proficient with numbers, having passion for the betterment of other people, Basic knowledge of the field of Economic Development, Ability to think creatively and outside the box.
