What we’re looking for…

The Social Media Specialist is accountable for content ideation, planning, creation and scheduling across all of Oatey’s social media platforms. They are also accountable for community management and responsiveness to follower inquiries, in partnership with an external agency. The Social Media Community Specialist conceptualizes and executes campaigns, content ideas, engagement initiatives and innovative approaches to Oatey’s social media presence, with accountability for creating short-form video and coordinating complex content calendars across multiple platforms and brands. Using a keen eye for social media trends, creative style/execution, and tone, they are a talented social media creator with a passion for storytelling through social and building digital communities.

Expectations & Accountabilities…

Position Responsibilities

• Develop and manage social media content calendars for Oatey’s multiple social media platforms and brands (total of 12 social media accounts)
• Generate new social media content and campaign ideas; innovate based on social media trends, activity within our communities, business priorities, and cross-functional feedback
• Film/photograph (on iPhone) and edit social media content and write post captions.
• Regularly visit Oatey’s training facility and Cleveland-area plumbing jobsites to film social media content
• Schedule all content in social media management tool (Sprout Social) and manage approval process
• Manage User Generated Content (UGC) in Sprout Social and incorporate into content calendar
• Partner with external agency on Community Engagement via Sprout Social, ensuring all followers comments/messages are responded to in a timely manner and escalated as needed
• Social media monitoring on evenings and weekends is required.
• Execute monthly social media reporting to track program growth and opportunities; use learnings to evolve and improve content and performance
• Coordinate with internal teams cross-functionally, including Design, Product Content, and Communications, etc., to ensure consistent messaging and assets are used across social media.
• Stay up-to-date with digital technology trends and social media platforms, recommending changes and innovations to ensure Oatey is on the forefront of social media and related digital media opportunities

What you’ll need to be successful…

• Minimum 1-3 years experience in social media content creation; Social media content samples are required
• Creativity and enthusiasm for hands-on social media content creation
• Proven experience creating compelling social media content, with an emphasis on short-form video (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, etc.)
• Deep knowledge of functionality of core social media platforms, with an emphasis on content creation processes within Instagram and TikTok
• Experience working in all major social platforms, including: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter
• High level of comfort with photo/video editing capabilities on iPhone
• High level of comfort working on a PC – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
• Excitement and willingness to learn – about our products, about the building trades, about our social media community, about our existing processes and programs
• Ability to move quickly to adjust content calendars based on last minute business needs or changes
• Overall eye for design as it relates to social media assets
• Demonstrated flexibility and ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines, and change gears quickly based on business needs

Qualifications that will set you apart…

• Experience using Sprout Social is preferred

Education and Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Visual Communication or relevant field or equivalent job experience
