Store Supervisor – Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Summary: The Store Supervisor is responsible for creating an engaging experience for Rock Hall store guests while sharing their love of rock and roll. This includes interacting with guests and working with the broader Store team to make sure that the Rock Hall Store is providing the best quality service possible. This full-time position requires open shift availability.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

 

Embodies the Rock Hall’s mission to “Engage, Teach, and Inspire through the power of rock and roll.” 

 

  • Understands the Rock Hall brand and guests.
  • Circulates in the Store to engage guests and help them connect to the history of rock and roll through the recommendation of merchandise.
  • Continues to communicate new ideas about how to better engage visitors to the Retail Store Management Team.
  • Serves as a role model for all visitor facing staff.
  • Reads, analyzes, and understands category and department reports provided by Directors.
  • Utilizes reports to make sound merchandising decisions and product recommendations.
  • Inspires, coaches, motivates, and leads team to achieve daily sales goals
  • Proactively adjusts to the fast-paced environment in all facets of the business including, but not limited to, staffing, merchandising, loss prevention, operations, and inventory management.
  • Collaborates well with immediate team as well as other departments.

 

Completes daily tasks in the Retail Store, including but not limited to: 

 

  • Organizes apparel and maintains the stock level on the sales floor.
  • Engages guests within in the store and assists them with product recommendations, while expanding sales revenues by up-selling support programs and product accessories.
  • Utilizes the POS system to transact guest’s selections.
  • Assists with the messaging of new policies and procedures to all visitor facing staff.

 

Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Management staff.  

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Education Level:

  • Ability to read and demonstrate basic oral, written, mathematical and manual skills. Ability to communicate in standard English.  High school graduate or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

Experience in Field:

  • Five years of supervisory experience, preferably in an apparel retail environment.

 

Unique Expertise/Certification/Registrations:

  • Possesses a passion for customer service and rock and roll, and an ability to get along with people.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Retail sales and cashier experience.
  • Bilingual capabilities helpful.
  • Understands implicitly how to work with different people and various working styles across the organization.
  • Displays a positive attitude toward guests and other Rock Hall staff.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame background investigation and drug screen.
  • Computer Literate:  Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions:

  • Environmental Parameters:  Ability to work in a window-less office. Ability to work in confined areas (Store stock room). Ability to work in crowds of people. Ability to work with loud house music. Ability to independently for extended periods of time.
  •  Physical Demands:
    • Strength:   Ability to lift/move items weighing up to 50 lbs. (approximately)
    • Type: Ability to effectively express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word. Ability to hear accurately to monitor radios and interact with the public. Ability to judge distance and space relationships; identify and distinguish colors, numbers, and figures. Ability to perform tasks concurrently. Work involves walking or standing most of the time but may involve sitting for brief periods of time.

 

Equipment Used:

  • Computers, telephone, calculator, cash register and other retail equipment.

 

Safety Hazards:

  • Minimal hazards. General office working conditions.

 

Aptitude Requirements:

  • Cognitive:
    • Analytical:  Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Communication:  Ability to be conversant in Rock Hall rules and procedures.  Ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions.   Ability to answer inquiries from employees and visitors.
    • Administrative:  Ability to complete forms.  Ability to pay attention to detail and accurately distinguish data.  Ability to organize and prioritize various schedules, data, and documents.
  • Manual:
    • Motor Coordination:  Ability to make necessary movements in selecting, picking and depositing items.
    • Finger Dexterity:  Ability to pick, pinch or otherwise work with fingers to operate above equipment.   Ability to pick up a variety of items and place them on shelves; to move knobs, buttons or switches.
    • Manual Dexterity:  Ability to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hands.   Ability to shake, sort, fold or stack items; to place and retrieve items.
