A Little Bit of Magic in Cleveland
by Ashley Basile Oeken, President, Engage! Cleveland
Everyone knows that Disney World is the most magical place on Earth. But a close second is Disney on Ice which makes a tour stop at Rocket Mortgage Field House in Cleveland each January. Disney on Ice has become a family tradition for our family and my girls look forward to it every year.
This year’s performance was unique in that rather than having a song or two from lots of former Disney classics, the show had two halves with an intermission. The first act had us all swooning over the Frozen sisters and following their movie. The ice was the perfect backdrop for Elsa in all of her frozen glory. The most magical moment was when Elsa made it start snowing INSIDE Rocket Mortgage Field House. What emotion came over the young children watching in disbelief of her magical talents.
After a brief intermission, the second act was Encanto. This was the act that really excited my girls as Encanto has become a new favorite at our house. My kids danced the entire time while watching Mirabel, Isabella and the gang skate around. The most memorable part was when both sisters were flying high in the sky during a duet. The crowd loved this and there were many ooos and ahhs.
To complete the Disney experience, tons of merchandise and treats were available outside in the main concourse from cotton candy with crowns to snow cones in Frozen character cups and everything in between.
The day ended with Mickey, Minnie and the gang as well as all of the Disney princesses joining the Frozen and Encanto crew for a song on the ice. It was very special.
We can’t wait for next year’s performance.
