Embracing Cleveland’s Music Scene- and cold winters!
Written by Events Manager: Abby Petty
In the heart of Cleveland, amidst the fervor for sports teams that unite the city, there beats another pulse—a rhythm that defines the soul of this vibrant community. Today, I want to divert our attention from the courts and fields to shine a spotlight on Cleveland’s rich musical legacy. While we may bleed for our teams, our passion extends beyond the confines of stadiums; it resonates in the melodies that echo through our streets and music venues.
We all know that Cleveland is the birthplace of rock and roll. But our city’s musical heritage extends far beyond its inception. With a plethora of music venues that cater to diverse tastes, Cleveland draws in renowned artists and nurtures a flourishing local music scene. Whether you crave the energy of a stadium concert, the intimacy of a waterfront performance, the authenticity of a dive bar gig, the relaxation of a lawn concert, or the grandeur of a historic theater, Cleveland has a venue to suit your fancy. And here, in the heart of the city, we celebrate our musical tapestry year-round—even in the bone-chilling February winds!
You’re probably familiar with the East Bank of the Flats, but if you take a trip over the newly revamped (and long-awaited) red bridge that connects the two sides of the flats, you’ll find a quieter part of the flats on the West Bank with ample parking, a deep history, and a thriving nightlife.
Every February, the West Bank comes alive with the sounds of music, laughter, and camaraderie. In its 15th iteration, the Brite Winter Festival once again transformed the West Bank into a playground of creativity and expression. Featuring 31 local musical acts, the festival offered a day-long celebration of Cleveland’s eclectic music scene. Attendees listened to an array of bands echo through the neighborhood as they wandered through display after display of art installations, indulged in culinary delights from local food trucks, marveled at intricate ice sculptures, and reveled in the unique excitement that only Brite Winter can provide. And if you happened to glance skyward, you’d catch a glimpse of the iconic Brite Winter disco ball, casting its shimmering reflection upon the Cleveland skyline.
If you missed out on this year’s festivities, fear not—there’s always next year. So, gather your loved ones, bundle up in your warmest gear (seriously, those gloves are a must), and prepare for an unforgettable experience at Cleveland’s coolest winter music festival.
Until next year, Brite Winter—we eagerly await your return!
